Belzona’s Commitment to Charity
Belzona recently introduced its new mission statement, “Polymeric Solutions for a Sustainable Future.” The Company chose it to show its aim to create a non-consumptive and ecological future by preventing the replacement of assets and consequently their decay in landfills by manufacturing polymeric materials that repair and protect assets.
This idea spread into other facets of Belzona, such as creating a more sustainable future by investing in our local communities and protecting them just as we do with assets. For example, Belzona offices from around the world celebrated Belzona’s 71st anniversary by centering a charitable act on the number 71. The Miami Office planted 71 trees in a local park that needed shade for its patrons and native vegetation for the wildlife. We wanted everyone in the Belzona network to participate in this initiative.
Small Acts, Big Impacts
In February of 2023, the Belzona corporate offices sent out an email campaign asking Distributors to celebrate the company’s 71st anniversary by also centering a charitable act on the number 71. For example, collect 71 cans of food, 71 pounds of food, 71 books, or 71 meals and donate them. The way they got to a minimum of 71 was up to them.
The goal of the initiative was to see the Belzona network contribute to this special 71st-anniversary celebration which meant that we would be sharing prosperity and helping repair, protect, and improve another aspect of our lives—our community—which is what we are all about. Belzona is a company with integrity and for 71 years our aim has been to help industries with their industrial maintenance problems. Now, as we move into the future the aim has expanded to serving the global community.
Belzona Network Charity Acts
Belzona Distributors understood Belzona’s aim, and some participated in the call to invest and improve their local communities. For example, Belzona Houston planted 71 trees in Alabama on a property that would beautify the area and provide local birds with shelter. Rumford Industrial Group generously donated 71 trees to be planted in one of their local parks for the people and animals that frequent the area.
North America
Other North American Belzona Distributors like Belzona Industrial Solutions, LLC chose Country Roads Animal Rescue as the recipient of their “71” themed charity campaign. They donated $71 each month of the year to the shelter and delivered 71 pet items back in February. Industrial Repair Technology, Inc., zealously designed personal care backpacks for their local Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter and local Men’s Recovery Home. This would provide necessities for the local people who experienced physical abuse or drug use.
Europe
In Europe, our Distributor for Spain, Rodator Composites collected 71 kilograms of non-perishable food to deliver to a food bank which would supply food to people and families in need of meals. Our Distributor for the West of Germany, Belzona Technik West GmbH brought 71 kilograms of feed to a Hedgehog Care Center. The center is a foster home for injured, sick, or weak hedgehogs that cannot survive without professional help.
Lastly, our Distributor for the UK, Belzona UK Ltd., challenged their team to collect as much litter in 71 minutes as possible. The team collected 7 full garbage bags and 1 full mixed recycling bag in 71 minutes just by walking around the public footpath behind the Belzona Harrogate office. Douglas Potts, Senior Field Solutions Engineer for Belzona UK Ltd. visited his local food bank and donated 71 items of food to make a big difference in someone’s life.
Africa
The Belzona Distributor for South Africa, AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd, through their trust, the AESSEAL Charitable Trust, with the kind support and donations of employees, distributed 71 food parcels and provided hot meals and cold drinks to over 300 people in need in Secunda and surrounding areas.
Australia
Finally, our Distributor for Australia, Rezitech Services Pty, provided 71 packs of food to the non-profit organization, Have Hope Inc. which works tirelessly as a charity whose purpose is to advance social or public welfare by providing food, goods, and support to people who have suffered the effects of suicide, hardship from domestic violence, and trauma.
Future Charity Commitments
We hope that it is visible how small charitable acts from around the world can affect the lives of many people and animals. The acts snowball into a greater effect by helping hundreds at a time but thousands later. Families will be fed, people who have encountered hardships will have necessities and local wildlife will be protected due to the efforts of the Belzona network. We hope that these acts do not stop after the anniversary and that we can continue protecting and improving our local communities to alleviate some environmental and social inequalities.
