Staff at each of Belzona’s Corporate Offices celebrated the festive season with their annual December staff meetings. In Harrogate (UK), Miami (USA) and Chonburi (Thailand) employees took the time to indulge in delicious food, play festive games with colleagues and celebrate the achievements of 2022.
Thailand and the UK organised Caribbean-themed staff meetings while the Miami Office’s event had a blend of Latin influences.
The Belzona Asia Pacific branch kicked off celebrations on Tuesday 6th December, where staff began the day with games and team bonding activities, followed by recognition awards for staff and updates from each Department.
After this, staff sat down to a delicious barbeque lunch soundtracked by a live band, before bringing out their competitive side in a number of outdoor games, with ‘balloon darts’ proving the most popular.
Christopher Wymer, Technical Services and Distributor Support Manager, said: “It was great to receive an update on the Company’s performance and future direction, and the barbeque lunch was excellent and was complemented well by a local band and a series of garden games.”
Next was the turn of the UK Office, who began their festivities on Thursday 8th December with a special staff recognition ceremony where tokens of recognition were presented to particular employees celebrating landmark years of service and notable achievements.
The Board of Directors then provided an update on the Company’s forward business plan, demonstrating Belzona’s policy of investment in its staff.
Morgan Johnson, Export Coordinator, said: “It is humbling to sit in a room where everyone around you is invested in the growth and success of the business – and even more so when they present with such good humour!”
After the presentations, staff enjoyed a crafts session where they accessorised festive decorations over a mug of hot chocolate, before tucking into a Caribbean-inspired menu including barbeque ribs, jerk chicken and ‘jerk aubergine’.
Finally, Belzona’s Miami Office wrapped up celebrations with a hugely enjoyable event held over Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th December. This commenced with a meet and greet with Santa Clause where staff received Christmas stockings filled with sweet and salty treats.
The Corporate Development Department devised menus including roast pork, sweet potato mash, salad, and a traditional Cuban dish of rice and beans called ‘arroz moro’, followed by cake, cookies and apple pie empanadas for dessert, all washed down by hot cocoa bombs with marshmallows.
Once staff had eaten their fill, they congregated on the dance floor, where Corporate Development Director, Kim Svendsen, had organised the surprise arrival of Carnival dancers, who danced with staff to traditional Latin music, as well as the Cha-cha slide, the wobble, and the Macarena.
After exhausting their moves, Barry Nisill, CEO, and Yulia Burova, Marketing Director, presented Corporate and sales updates, while long-serving and high-achieving staff were presented with awards. Finally, staff ended the day by imitating their World Cup heroes with a festive soccer match.
The celebrations strengthened the personal and professional bonds within each office with lighthearted fun and games, while also providing the opportunity to celebrate 2022 and look ahead to 2023.
